Freaking Out Won't Fix Your Mistake

In the frantic world of middle school teaching there are million and one things to have a freak out over. I have learned in the last year or so that my time and energy cannot be consumed by petty crap. Stupid teachers, wacky children, parents complaining about stuff that is there fault are things that I just don't have the time or concern for anymore.

Today's freak out in the library concerned two teachers. One is a slacker but a good teacher in the sense that students like him and he does well giving information. The other is a know it all meddling idiot.

We had to reschedule a round of online testing. I explained to the second teacher that there were certain restrictions as to when the testing could occur. Does he listen no. He signs up not once but twice and they way he signs up gives absolutely no sign as to which students or what test he is signing up for.

So when teacher #1 signs up for his online test, he doesn't exactly look at the schedule closely and signs up in the morning when the other is signed up.

My part in this snafu was that I thought that teacher number two's group was done with there testing covered by the second sign up session.

So when both are in the library teacher number 1 has a complete meltdown. I remain calm and controlled, especially when he verbally snaps at a third teacher. So has the time paradigm shifted. Has the world ended. NO. All students that needed to be tested tested. Life is not over.
