Sick in Mind and Body

Today is a perfectly good example of why I barely get to take sick days.

The cold weather and confined spaces have finally bred a fun sinus,
cough, cold. I'd rather be on the couch at home in my fleece pjs
watching my dvr'd CSI and The Office episodes. But alas I am in the
midst of online testing season and I have to suffer through it.

The online testing takes several steps to set up. First the computers
have to be logged on under a generic user. Then the testing program is
logged in with my adminstrator password. Then the subject is selected
then test type and finally student name according to a seating chart.

In the middle of testing students will come in to make up tests they
mised because they had the plague too. Then there are absent students
that have to be logged off. Then if there any problems with the test
questions the screen has be refreshed.

So alas I could train my aides how to do it but 1. I know the teachers
will be all anxiety ridden about it and 2. When I toyed with the idea of
not coming in today and tried to train them they held the look of fear
in their eyes.

Of course I never get sick when there is nothing going on in the
library. It is always the week before break or week after or during a
major research project. But I santize any communal equipment I touch
and was my hands frequently so not to spread the plague. I am blaming
my one aide who was out for 4 days on this current sickness. She just
doesn't know it yet.
